It got me thinking. Laugh lines, gray hairs, a year older...it really doesn't bother me. I'm a firm believer in living with no regrets and to me each wrinkle laugh line is just another great memory that you made. Every gray hair was caused by something stressful, that made you who you are. Hard of hearing? Maybe you went to a few too many concerts, but hey...you had fun!
I was reading Ellen DeGeneres' book "Seriously...I'm Kidding" the other day. She says at eight we want to be older. Somewhere in the middle we start lying about our age. And when we hit 80 or 90, we start showing off our age. I'd also like to point out...that in "the middle" is where people start trying to "fix" themselves. They get rid of lines and color their hair...why be ashamed of who you are? Or your age?
I'm only 26, which is far from being "old." (Which by the way, I think "old" is 90.) But I'm taking a stand now to never be ashamed of my age or the lines (that will be!) on my face. They are part of you and everything you have done. Why would you want to hide such a beautiful thing?!

I LOVE this post. Love it. I totally agree, the older I now get the less I want to hide it. Every line on my face shows the laughter I've used to get through the crazy times! I'm glad that I read this today though, because I needed to be reminded to have this attitude as I turn a year older tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThis has been my mentality for years, and I'm glad there's someone else out there who has it too!! I have noticed a gray hair or two lately, but they don't bother me one bit! Wanting to be an age you're not is so futile.
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome post! I needed it, thank you! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know someone else is like this also.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom thought I was strange because I didn't have a cow about turning 30. It's not about your age, wrinkles, or gray hair. It's your attitude about life and what you focus on!
I hear ya! I'm only 25, but I know I don't look 16, and that's ok. I want to embrace being older. I read somewhere that you spend most of your life as an adult, might as well get used to it.
ReplyDeleteGood on you! I'm 20 years old, but the teens I work with call me "grandma"! It's hilarious. I also see "old" as 90 years old. Doesn't mean I *like* getting older, but I don't really have anything against it either.
ReplyDeleteThough I'm not going to say I was upset when 4 people mistook me for a college freshman earlier this week, hah!

I love this post!! I saw a quote on Pinterest that said, "Do not regret growing older. It's a privilege denied to many." And it's just SO true!
ReplyDeleteI hide it. Botox, chem peels, highlights. Im from Orange County. I can't help it. I want to be 29 for at least another 5 years. (yes I'm already 30).
